Where to find registered celebrants in Ireland

The wedding planning is in full swing.

You’ve picked the venue, the deposit is down and the date is confirmed and now you’re looking for a celebrant.

It is important to keep in mind that only some celebrants in Ireland are ‘qualified’ to perform legal marriages in Ireland, and others are provide a service of celebration rather than a legally bound marriage.

The Irish government publishes a list of registered celebrants and solemnisers that are HSE approved: meaning these people possess the relevant qualifications and meet the government required standards needed to perform legal marriage ceremonies in Ireland.

You can find the Register of Solemnisers linked here and it’s available to download in Excel format.

This list includes those who can host both humanist and religious (including Roman Catholic, Church of Ireland, Presbyterian, Baptist, Methodist, Jewish and Islamic and more). This list includes mobile and phone numbers and location, making it easy to filter through.

This list is regularly updated and is good place to start.

Just a little bit of forewarning – this above list might be a little overwhelming. And let’s be honest, we aren’t really a cold caller culture anymore. If you’d like a softer and more relaxed approach, there are plenty of websites out there with bios and email links – which in my opinion is the perfect place to start.

We’ve also listed a few more sites below, that can be really helpful in finding the registered celebrant that fits your personality and vibe of your day.
