Are you planning a summer wedding?
When it comes to florals, it’s difficult to know what types of flowers will be in season for your wedding. You’ve pinned the perfect bouquet and your dream centrepieces, but are those flowers actually available?
Calling all summer brides, if your wedding date is creeping up and you are yet to finalise your wedding florals with your florist, we’re here to help!
Here in Ireland, we are lucky to have an amazing number of talented wedding florists, check out our list of our top recommended wedding florists right here.
Cosmos

Delicate and daisy-like, cosmos flowers have relatively flat petals aiding surface area coverage, making them perfect for a wedding bouquet. Available in various colours such as white, shades of pink, as well as burnt orange and deep crimson. With scalloped edges, slender and tall stems, this is a popular choice for wedding flowers.
Dahlias

An alternative option to a peony or a ranunculus, the dahlia flower has a large bloom. Intricate, layered and overlapping petals will add beautiful dimension and texture to a bouquet. Dahlias come in many different colours from neutrals to soft pastels, right through to more bold and statement colours.
Hydrangeas

An under-rated wedding flower, hydrangeas are timeless and elegant. The large, packed bunches of fluffy petals create a soft and romantic wedding bouquet. Hydrangeas also make for a beautiful filler flower if you’re looking to add volume to other flower selections. You’ll find hydrangeas in white or cream, as well as shades of pink, blue and lilacs.
Sunflowers

Sunflowers are definitely a statement choice, in terms of colour and aesthetic. Adding a unique and rustic feel to a wedding bouquet, sunflowers have large dark centres with bright yellow petals and are a great choice for a summer wedding.
Sweet Peas

Adding a whimsical and romantic feel to any wedding bouquet, sweet peas are fragrant flowers that are great choice for a summer bride. Soft and ruffled petals, with tall and winding stems, sweet peas come in shades of pink, purple, white, and cream.
Other florals available in summer:
Roses of various colours are found throughout the year, and you’ll also find an array of other gorgeous florals, such as cornflowers, gerber daisies, zinnias, marigolds, lavender and honeysuckle.
